Ocean Wishes May 31, 2011

It is no secret that Us girls LOVE being at the ocean.  Since we couldn’t be in a giant sand box and salt water at this time, we still had to play in some water.  First we went to the a Playground and much to our delight the previous rains had turned the large sandbox into an oceanish setting.  The girls dove into creating and enjoying the sand and water.

On another day we trekked out to Valle Crucis and played in the Watauga River.  This is one of our favorite places to go in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We even took Zen and Emmie along for play time.  The river calls you to stack rocks along its banks and find critters in its water.  Laini found some worms and Lydia hooped on the bank.  Valle Crucis is a great place to go and meet some new friends and cool off in the water.

Hoop Inspiration December 6, 2010

The girls and I made our own Hula Hoops in August.

We followed these instructions. I had a hard time finding a hardware store that would sell me the pipe by the foot, but finally while visiting family in KY we were able to get what we wanted at ACE. The silver and tye dye hoops are ½ in 100 psi and the purple and yellow ones are ¾ in 100 psi. All of us except Laini can Hoop, even Jody J. I have since made two smaller hoops and Laini is close to being able to make it spin.

In anticipation of all the snow and cold weather this winter I have tried to clear out a space in the basement to hoop this winter. However about a week after I cleared it out, we filled it with stuff that was in the Bus while we work on the floor repairs. I guess if I don’t want to hoop in the snow…

…which is hard to do, I need to find some other inspiration. I will be practicing some isolations inside. I could stand in my bedroom in front of the mirror like suggested here or I might be able to get Lydia to hold the hoop for me until I get the hang of it. I like how isolations look when combined with other hoop dance moves like this dance. Here is some cool double hoop spiral action! Now that my hoops are inside, every time I see them it is a reminder to have some fun….

Check out Inspiration Monday for some things that are inspiring Tara and other bloggers…
